That strange emptiness after achieving something you thought would finally make you feel complete. That inner voice that whispers, “There has to be more,” even when everything on the outside seems perfect.
And maybe you’ve felt it in other ways too…
The anxiety that keeps you up at night, even when no one sees your struggle.
The stress that builds up because you’re carrying life on your shoulders, with no clear direction. That heaviness in your chest, the fog in your mind, the silent question: “What’s the point of all this?” The depression that makes even getting out of bed feel like a battle. That haunting sense of purposelessness, like you’re alive, but not really living.
These aren’t just emotional or mental issues. They’re signs of something deeper. A Soul disconnected. A soul calling out for its Creator.
And today, more than ever, that disconnection is growing. Because the world is loud. Constant noise. Constant scrolling. Constant distraction. Endless entertainment. Quick fixes for pain. Temporary highs to escape deeper questions. We’re always busy, always connected, but somehow, more lost and alone than ever before. We’ve learned to numb the soul instead of healing it.
To scroll instead of reflect. To perform instead of feel. To chase the next thing… without ever asking if it’s even the right direction.
And in that storm of distractions, the heart drifts quietly away. Further from purpose. Further from peace. Further from the One who created it.
No amount of therapy, distraction, or self-help can replace what only your Creator can give: true meaning, real hope, and inner peace. A message from your Creator, preserved in the Qur’an:
“those who believe and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah. Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.”
— Qur’an 13:28
As Allah reminds us in the Qur’an, we were not made in vain:
“Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?”
— Qur’an 23:115
In truth, He declares:
“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me”
— Qur’an 51:56
This is our inner calling – to know our Creator, to find meaning beyond ourselves. Believers and seekers alike are urged to reflect on this purpose, for it is the light that dispels our sense of emptiness..
Islam teaches that you are not a product of chance.
You were created by Allah (اللّٰه) intentionally and with purpose:
And if you ever doubt it, look around you.
All over the earth, there are signs of those who came before: mighty nations, advanced cities, powerful leaders. They built, they conquered, they thrived — and they were forgotten. The palaces they lived in… now ruins. The empires they ruled… now history lessons. The names they carried… now barely remembered. They lived, they denied, and they died.
“Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those ˹destroyed˺ before them? They were far superior in might and ˹richer in˺ monuments throughout the land. But Allah seized them for their sins, and they had no protector from Allah.”
— Qur’an 40:21
These ruins are warnings, reminders, and proofs, that no matter how strong, rich, or intelligent a people may be… if they forget their Creator, their end is the same.
And you don’t even have to look that far. Sometimes, the reminder is much closer. When a loved one passes away. When someone who was laughing with you yesterday… is buried today.
That moment shakes you. Because you realize — death is near. Always. And no one, no matter how young or successful, is promised tomorrow.
All around us the world clamors – with distractions, desires, and the race for wealth or status. We drown out the inner call with achievements or diversions. Yet the Qur’an gently reminds us how fleeting these pursuits are:
“Know that this worldly life is no more than play, amusement, luxury, mutual boasting, and competition in wealth and children. This is like rain that causes plants to grow, to the delight of the planters. But later the plants dry up and you see them wither, then they are reduced to chaff. And in the Hereafter there will be either severe punishment or forgiveness and pleasure of Allah, whereas the life of this world is no more than the delusion of enjoyment.“
— Qur’an 57:20
It is but a mirage, as another verse warns,
“Every soul will taste death. And you will only receive your full reward on the Day of Judgment. Whoever is spared from the Fire and is admitted into Paradise will ˹indeed˺ triumph, whereas the life of this world is no more than the delusion of enjoyment.”
— Qur’an 3:185
Because this life no matter how beautiful, painful, or exciting is not the last destination. Some are tested with difficulty. Others with abundance. But all are here for one reason: To know Allah (اللّٰه). To love Him. To submit to Him.
And to prepare for what comes next.
“I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me.”
— Qur’an 51:56
What Comes After this Life?
After death, there is resurrection.
Not as a myth or a metaphor but a reality. We were created with purpose, not for play. Every soul will rise and stand before its Creator. To be judged with perfect justice. The Qur’an paints a vivid scene of the hereafter to awaken our hearts. On the Day of Resurrection
“the Trumpet will be blown ˹a second time˺, then—behold!—they will rush from the graves to their Lord”
— Qur’an 36:51
In that moment, every soul will see its deeds, great or small. “So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.” — Qur’an, 99:7-8
There is perfect justice: nothing is lost or overlooked. We will cry out with all humanity, “Woe to us! Who has raised us up from our place of rest? This must be what the Most Compassionate warned us of; the messengers told the truth!” — Qur’an, 36:52
This life is a test, and a test must have results. Because the oppressed deserve justice, and the oppressors must answer. Because hidden struggles, silent patience, and sincere worship are never in vain. Because the truth will be revealed, and the lies will be exposed. Because the All-Knowing does not forget.
Nothing will be lost. Nothing overlooked. Every test will make sense, and even the smallest act will count. A kind word, a silent struggle, a hidden prayer, a tear shed in private, a temptation resisted, a coin given in secret, a breath taken to calm your anger… — all recorded.
All known by Him.
